SKILLED CARPENTER JOB DESCRIPTION

New Dimension Construction has been a leading high-end home remodeling/contracting company in the Hudson Valley for the last 25 years. We are seeking a candidate with a minimum 5-10 years field experience working as a carpenter. This is a full-time, year-round position with competitive wages. This is not a management position. Under the general supervision of the Lead Carpenter, the Carpenter performs a full range of skilled carpentry and related work. The ideal candidate will be driven, experienced, production focused and can work as part of a team. Someone able to work within deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Typical Experience Should Include:

Trim work, Cabinet installation, Window and Door Installation, Rough Framing, Bathrooms, Deck Construction

Requirements:

Strong background in remodeling is required. A good attitude. Working as part of a team. Ability to build, install, and repair structural woodwork, flooring, ceilings, and cabinetry. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position and perform arithmetic calculations required for the position. Candidate must have reliable transportation.

Valid New York driver’s license with a good driving record. Candidate should be able to pass a background check (including a criminal records check).

Responsibilities

Performs rough and finish carpentry: methods and techniques (average to good)

Ability to use a transit level to establish grades and elevations

Ability to layout and install concrete footings and flatwork forms

Ability to install pre-hung door units and windows; drywall; standard cabinetry

Reads and understands construction documents (blueprints etc.)

Ability to display carpentry skills consistent with NDC, Inc. standard of quality

Tools Required:

Possesses personal hand tool inventory – (Levels, squares, layout tools)

Special Working Conditions:

Works on uneven surfaces, in and around construction sites, and on roofs and other elevated surfaces. Must be in good health with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
